🚨 SCAM CALL ALERT – PLEASE SHARE 🚨
The Tye Police Department has received numerous complaints regarding scam and fraudulent phone calls being made to residents in our area.
Scammers may pretend to be law enforcement officers, government agencies, utility companies, banks, or other legitimate organizations. They may claim you owe money, have a warrant, missed jury duty, or need to make an immediate payment to avoid arrest or another consequence.
Please remember:
• Never provide your Social Security number, banking information, passwords, or other personal information to an unknown caller.
• Be suspicious of anyone demanding immediate payment by gift card, cryptocurrency, wire transfer, or payment app.
• Do not trust the phone number shown on Caller ID. Scammers can make a call appear to come from a legitimate agency or local number.
• If someone claims to represent an agency or business, hang up and independently locate the organization's official phone number before calling back.
• Never allow a caller to pressure or threaten you into sending money.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: The Tye Police Department will never call you and demand payment over the phone to avoid arrest.
If you receive a suspicious call, do not provide personal information or send money. Hang up.
Please take a moment to share this information with family members, friends, and especially anyone who may be more vulnerable to these scams.
Stay alert. Protect your personal information.
