City of Tye
To the Citizens of Tye,
I am aware of the many rumors that are being circulated about the
City, and I am posting this statement to provide information directly to the
Citizens to address and alleviate as many of your concerns as possible.
We still have a quorum for regular Council Meetings, and I believe that
the City Council will be able to resolve many issues in the upcoming
Council Meetings.
Tye is currently very shorthanded due to unforeseen
circumstances that caused a mass exodus of employees in the Public
Works Department. The City Council and I will work as quickly as
applicable law and regulations allow to hire more employees and get our
City fully functional again.
For your water bills, as before, when issues have come up, I will
push to have all penalties and disconnections temporarily suspended
and to eliminate any late fees during this transition period. Tye is working
with our billing software representatives to generate bills and hope to
have this issue addressed shortly. You can still log in to your account
and pay an estimated amount based on your prior bills. Any
overpayment will be credited to your account. If your estimated payment
is short, the remainder of the amount due will be billed showing the paid
credit when billing becomes available.
Please be patient as Tye navigates through these unforeseen
circumstances. Also, please support the remaining and new City
employees who are committed to serving you and our City and rarely get
the recognition they deserve. Without them, we could not accomplish all
that we need to do.

On a personal note, I know there is a lot of concern for our City
and its future. We are not being annexed by anyone, we are not going to
have our Articles of Incorporation pulled, and we will not cease
operations. The City Council will work diligently with outside consultants
and a new City Attorney in Council Meetings to better our City. We are
committed to accomplishing this with transparency and with compliance
with all laws.
