So grateful to be a part of this event and have the opportunity to see the impact these glasses have had in real life. More than 50 Veterans received their free pair of Meta Glasses visiting from more than 21 counties.
Thank you to East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind Inc for hosting and to the Blinded Veterans Association and Meta for their shared vision to support our Veterans and help them to regain independence lost that comes with vision loss.

In honor of we would like to say thank you to our partners SPCA of East Texas and K9 Connections Dog Training for providing Veteran Service Dog Training for our East Texas Veterans. We appreciate all you do and the services you provide at NO COST to those who qualify.

K9 Connections has now graduated 48 Veteran service animals (not all at CampV), and currently have 10 in training with 3 new animals placed over the last few days. These animals literally save lives. We are so thankful for the important work you do.

Shout out to PKC Services for fixing up the barn and literally opening the door for the program to have a real office to work out of.

CampV does not exist without our generous community of givers and doers. We are thankful for each and everyone of you.

ONE WEEK LEFT to register for Ray-Ban Meta Glasses and training!!

We have partnered with the East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind Inc and the Blinded Veterans Association to offer Meta Glasses and training FREE of charge to blind and low-vision Veterans! 👓✨

Veterans attending the event will have access to all three partners at once:
East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind - rehabilitation, education, employment services, and independent living training, available year-round to blind and low-vision East Texans.

CampV - provides personalized support through benefits navigation, housing stability assistance, employment resources, wellness programs, peer connection, and community partnerships that help Veterans and their families thrive.

Blinded Veterans Association - national-level advocacy, benefits guidance, and a peer network of veterans living with sight loss, connecting East Texans to resources well beyond the state.

For many attendees, the glasses may end up being the introduction rather than the destination. A veteran who arrives for a device may leave enrolled in orientation and mobility training, connected to a benefits advocate, or plugged into a peer community they did not know existed.

The distribution is part of Meta's commitment to donate Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses to 130,000 blinded worldwide, expanding access to hands-free AI technology that supports greater independence and access to information. Help us reach as many Veterans as possible and share with a fellow Veteran!

We had so much fun yesterday showing off the CampV team in their best back-to-school outfits that we decided to have a little fun and take it back a few years... okay, maybe more than a few.

🍎 BACK TO SCHOOL, CampV Edition 📚✏️

School is back in session across East Texas for many students, and the CampV crew showed up ready for class!

Meet this year's students and faculty:

🏫 Assistant Principal Gladhill (Travis): patrolling the halls and taking his job description just a little too seriously. 😂

🎓 Vicki: high school senior and future Aggie, headed to Texas A&M!

✏️ Paige: quite possibly the cutest freakin' first grader we've ever seen. Seriously. Look at her.

🎒 Bailey: Paige's bestie and ready with all things pink and snacks to share with the class!

🍎 Miss Ashley: Paige and Bailey's teacher! She's the only one who can handle them both in the same classroom.

🔬 Mister John: high school science teacher, or is he?

🎨 Miss Tami: art teacher, because every staff needs someone encouraging you to color outside the lines.

📜 Miss Saraí: history teacher, ready to make sure this class learns a thing or two from the past!

If you are a Veteran and are blind or low-vision, this event was tailored for you!

We have partnered with the East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind Inc and the Blinded Veterans Association to offer Meta Glasses and training FREE of charge to blind and low-vision Veterans! 👓✨

The event, held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Lighthouse's Tyler campus at 411 West Front Street, is a collaborative initiative between Meta, the Blinded Veterans Association (BVA), CampV, and East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind, which is hosting the event.

What makes August 20 unusual is that all four organizations will be in the same building on the same day, meaning a veteran who comes for a pair of glasses can walk out connected to considerably more than a piece of technology.

Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses are wearable eyewear with a built-in camera, speakers, and microphones. Paired with a smartphone, they can describe a wearer's surroundings aloud, read printed text, identify objects, and handle calls and messages hands-free. For someone with significant loss of vision, that can mean reading a piece of mail, identifying a can in the pantry, or getting a description of an unfamiliar room without asking another person for help.

Buddy Check Day! A reminder from our partners at Military Veteran Peer Network/ Green Zone Peer Center to check in and see how your fellow Veterans are doing. Tag a veteran and check in!

Buddy Check Day is a Texas Veterans Commission initiative. Today serves as a reminder for Veterans to reach out, connect, and check in on one another. Checking on your buddy can be a text, call, or a short visit.

The 11th also holds deeper meaning: Veterans Day, November 11th, began as Armistice Day, marking the end of World War I on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. The name later changed to honor all who have served.
