Powered by People is the GOTV group Beto started & they are AMAZING! I donate monthly to PxP. Please read what we got from Powered by People today about our local treasure Carla Higgins:

I want you to meet Carla, our star volunteer in Tyler.

Carla has been holding down the fort for us in Northeast Texas, proving every single day that our movement is growing all over the state, not just in the big cities. In places that don't always get the same attention or resources as Austin, Dallas, or Houston, it’s dedicated leaders like Carla who are going to make the difference for us this November.

Without a staff organizer in her region, Carla is the organization. Every single week she sets up at Tyler Junior College to meet, register, and stay in touch with voters. But she doesn’t stop there. Carla is a force multiplier: she’s coaching and lifting up other local volunteers, like Maria, to build a powerful team, and she’s already brainstorming how to recruit interns to expand our footprint to UT Tyler this fall.

What makes Carla truly special is her touch. She customizes her outreach to every single voter she interacts with, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether she’s organizing at local Pride events in Longview and Tyler or calling through lists of local volunteers to get them involved, she brings a personal connection that you just can't replicate from afar.

When I called Carla recently to thank her, she told me, "I'll hold up my end of the bargain." She absolutely is. Now, we need to hold up ours by giving her the resources she needs to keep expanding.

Please pitch in today to support Carla and ensure we can empower grassroots leaders in every corner of Texas.

Thank you for being in this fight with us,

Aimee

Texas Democrats to Convene Largest Democratic Gathering in the Nation in Corpus Christi
National leaders including U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, Gov. JB Pritzker, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders and TDP Chair Kendall Scudder to headline 2026 State Convention

DALLAS/FORT WORTH – The Texas Democratic Party announced new details for its 2026 State Convention, taking place June 25–27 in Corpus Christi, where more than 5,000 Democrats from across the state will gather for the largest Democratic convention in the country.

Lined up to speak is a slate of nationally recognized leaders and keynote speakers, beginning with U.S. Senator Cory Booker, followed by Illinois Governor JB Pritzker at Friday’s Blue Wave Luncheon, and remarks from Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin during Friday’s General Session. Programming will continue Saturday with New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, who will keynote the Lady Bird Breakfast, and U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders. Texas Democratic candidates, including U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico and Gubernatorial nominee Gina Hinojosa, along with Texas Democratic Party Chair Kendall Scudder, will headline key programming focused on winning up and down the ballot. The convention will kick off Thursday evening with a free concert by Tejano recording star and U.S. Congressional Candidate Bobby Pulido.

The multi-day event will bring together grassroots activists, elected officials, and candidates to organize, energize, and prepare for victory in November as campaigns and priorities for 2026 take shape. Over the course of 2 ½ days, attendees will be able to participate in grassroots trainings, caucus meetings, influencer and podcast engagement, and community-building events designed to connect Democrats from every region of the state.

About the Texas Democratic Party

Founded in 1846, Texas Democrats continue the march toward re-building a state that acts upon its beliefs - fair wages, affordable housing, universal childcare, a right to accessible and affordable healthcare, and safe communities. A fair shot for all - that’s what drove our Texas forefathers to build this great state, and that is what drives us today. A belief that no matter who you are, what you look like, where you come from, or who you love - if you work hard in Texas, you can make it. Texas Democrats have never shied away from big, bold ideas. From Lyndon B. Johnson to Henry B. Gonzalez to Barbara Jordan to Ann Richards and today’s Democratic champions, Texas Democrats will fight to uphold the landmark programs, policies, and institutions that make Texas work for all Texans. The Texas Secretary of State has been less than efficient lately. That causes problems for every one of us. Here's a list of what Texas Democrats have been doing while the Secretary of State (SOS) figures out its own job:
Manually correcting voter records so candidates and voters have accurate data for the May 26 runoffs

Building our own voter contact infrastructure because the state’s is compromised

Fielding calls from candidates and county officials who had nowhere else to turn

Staffing the legal and technical work to make the runoff function despite the SOS

Running a full statewide slate into November at the same time
