All Smith County Offices will open for normal business hours on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
If you have a Smith County Jury Summons for Wednesday, please report to the courthouse if you can.

All non-emergency Smith County offices will close on Tuesday and Commissioners Court will be delayed until Thursday.
Road conditions remain hazardous and for the safety of county employees and the public, all county offices, including the Smith County Courthouse, will remain closed on Tuesday, January 27.
Jury duty has been cancelled for Tuesday.
County offices are expected to reopen at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28.
Ahead of the winter storm and following the governor’s declaration, Smith County Judge Neal Franklin issued a disaster declaration for Smith County on Friday. Because of the declared emergency, Commissioners Court can be delayed for up to 72 hours, or when it is safe for court members to convene.
Commissioners Court will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2026, in the Annex Building, at 200 E. Ferguson St. in Tyler.
Although the sun came out on Monday and melted some of the ice, temperatures are expected to remain below freezing and roads will refreeze overnight.
Please stay off the roads if possible. Stay home and stay safe!
Several areas in Smith County remain hazardous and many drivers have slid off the roads and got stuck.
Smith County emergency management officials have been working around the clock from the Smith County Emergency Operations Center since Friday night.
If you have downed trees or powerlines on Smith County roads, please report them to Smith County Dispatch by calling 903-566-6600. If you have an emergency, please call 9-1-1.

The Smith County Veteran Services Office is moving to a new location. The office is relocating to CampV. The new address will be 3212 W. Front Street, Bldg # 100 in Tyler, Texas. Consequently the office will be closed on Wednesday 31 May, Thursday 01 June and Friday 02 June in order to facilitate this move. At this time we hope to have the new office at CampV up and open on Monday 05 June.
At tis time there is a planned ribbon cutting ceremony set for 1330 on Tuesday 06 June. Office hours for the new office will be 0800-1200 and 1300-1700 Monday thru Friday.

The Smith County Veteran Services Office will be closed Monday 29 May in observance of Memorial Day. The office will re-open on Tuesday 30 May for normal hours.

The Smith County Veteran Services Office now operates a satellite office at CampV on West Front Street. That office is manned by a Smith County VSO every Monday and Wednesday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. We can offer the same services (except fax services) at that office that we offer at the Smith County Veteran Services Office located at 210 E. Ferguson.
