Every Monday | 10 a.m. – 2p.m. Group closed for federal holidays Catholic Charities 305 W Rusk St., Tyler, TX 75701 (Free parking available in parking lot next to building entrance) FREE, come-and-go group. No fees or appointments/registrations needed! Bring your baby and a female support person if you would like. We respectfully request that this group is reserved for women only. Feel free to bring your pump, bottle or any supplies you may need. A professional infant scale is available to weigh your baby before and after feeding or for a simple weight check.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops said in a press release that Father John Gomez was appointed bishop-designate of the Diocese of Laredo, Texas, upon the retirement of Bishop James Tamayo from the position.

Tamayo has served in that role for more than a quarter-century, having been appointed to the post in 2000 by Pope John Paul II. At 76, he has reached the customary age of retirement for bishops.

Gomez was born in Colombia on Dec. 15, 1975. He received a master of divinity degree from the University of St. Thomas in Houston and was ordained in the Diocese of Tyler, Texas, on May 23, 2009.

He has served at multiple parishes in Tyler and in multiple roles for the diocese itself, including as judicial vicar and on the diocesan review board. He also served as vicar general and moderator of the curia for the Tyler Diocese from 2015 to 2023 and again from 2025.

Our Nurse Convocation was started with Salsa Making and planting A Salsa Container Garden through TexasAgriLife of Smith County! The afternoon was dedicated to Pastoral Care followed with diapers dispersed to some of the parishes! It was a full day!

Our shelves were empty, but thanks to the Bishop TK Gorman student community… we have diapers! They were surprised at the cost per box and came to understand how much this drive will support families with their little ones! Thank you, thank you for your charity!
