Smith County Animal Control & Shelter Through our Field Services, we aim to protect community members and neglected animals by enforcing laws and educating the public.

Through our Shelter Services we provide quality care and seek positive outcomes for all animals that come through our doors. This page is for dialog between the Animal Control Division and the citizens of Smith County. We understand that this can be an emotionally charged topic for many, but we ask that all comments be positive and constructive. This guy is an adorable puppy who is ready for his forever family. He has all the wonderful things we love about puppies- curiosity, playfulness, affection, and a whole lot of love just waiting to give. Peter would adore a yard, someone who enjoys throwing the ball, being outside, and then lets him curl up nearby when it is too hot to play anymore. We are sending a heartfelt "THANK YOU" to Angel Paws Advocates for tagging our sweet Princess Reese. Reese, a thirteen-year-old partially blind and deaf cocker spaniel needed special care. We reached out to Angel Paws Advocates, and they quickly found Reese a home offering her the care she needs.
What a beautiful new beginning for Reese, and we know she is being pampered and loved as she deserves.

Dottie Is Adopted!

The sweetest little pup you could ever meet has found her forever home.
Dottie has always been our gentle, tender-hearted girl.... content to be cuddled instead of chasing toys. She watched as her siblings were chosen one by one. She never asked for much - just to be loved. These wonderful girls and their mom met Dottie today...... a few snuggles later, decision made. It is official- Dottie will never be alone again!

Happy Super Weekend to Legend... He is Adopted !

Legend, who has the biggest heart, never meets a stranger and loves puppies, is spending his first weekend in his new home.
This incredible family visited our shelter, adopting a puppy for their daughter when they met Legend. Imagine our joyous eruption when they called a couple of days later inquiring about him. They couldn't forget him - and really, who could? Down they rushed to take him home! Happy weekend Legend and Thank you to this loving family for making his dreams come true.

Buddy had the chance to visit Hollywood Feed with one of our volunteers when Nicholas Pet Haven saw the magic of "love at first sight" with the Donnan family and rushed in to arrange his adoption. Buddy's dreams have come true .... and thank you to this wonderful family for making him part of your family
