🚫 🔥 Please avoid all burning today. 🔥 🚫

Commission Wildland Firefighters are fighting wildfires statewide. Yesterday there were 86 wildfires that burned over 3200 acres. South Mississippi had 49 of them with 2300 of the acres.

Today has an increased alert for wildfires and with winds picking up that will increase that risk for escaped burns.

Christmas in the Park opens TONIGHT with the annual Walking Tour. Participants will be able to get an up close view of the lighted park, strolling through at their own pace – start when you please and finish when you please, between the hours of 6-8:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children. There will be 3-D glasses available for $1 and hot chocolate and cookies for a donation. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for children to say hello. Bring your camera and capture the moment with Santa and Mrs. Claus if you choose. A door prize of $500 donated by Market Max and Pigott Oil will be given away at the end of the night. Enter Wednesday night by the Hwy 48 entrance. Plenty of parking is available.

As everyone starts to clean debris from their yards remember even tho we have had a lot of rain we also have had a lot of dry debris fall from the trees. Yard fires can easily get out of hand. Please be cautious.
