This weekend, North American Aerospace Defense Command will be actively enforcing multiple FAA Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) across portions of New York and New Jersey.

Pilots: Know before you fly.

Watch this video to learn how NORAD’s air defense procedures work — instead of learning about them firsthand in the sky.

Before every flight, check current Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs), review all applicable TFRs and strictly follow published procedures.

"Our bilateral training and shared focus on humanitarian assistance ensure that we stand ready to deliver life-saving support wherever and whenever it is needed." - Lt. Gen. Luke Ahmann, commander of Continental U.S. NORAD Region and First Air Force (Air Forces Northern and Air Forces Space).

This powerful sentiment was put into action during a complex, long-range rescue mission 680 miles off the coast of Cabo San Lucas. Working together, the Armada de México and the 129th Rescue Wing and Air Force Rescue Coordination Center successfully stabilized and evacuated a critically injured fisherman. This operation stands as a testament to the seamless interoperability and enduring partnership between our two nations when answering the call to save lives.

The matches are over, but our mission never ends. 🇺🇸🇨🇦

As World Cup activities draw to a successful close, we thank the civil aviation community across North America. Your cooperation with NOTAMs, TFRs, and airspace restrictions was vital to public safety.

Much like on the pitch, securing the skies over every host city is a true team effort. This success was made possible through seamless, binational coordination with our partners at Federal Aviation Administration, NAV CANADA, Safety Canada, Department of Homeland Security, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Royal Canadian Air Force as well as local aviation and law enforcement teams.

Thank you for helping us keep our skies safe.
