BLUF: Between 2012-2018 only 0.000507% of security clearances were denied/lost due to mental health concerns, NONE of which were simply for seeking mental health care.

The risks to seeking mental health are minimal and the potential benefits are enourmous, both for individuals and for the mission. Seeking mental health care is no different than seeking care for your physical health—the mind and body are just two parts of the whole person.

The Chaplain Corps at Tyndall works closely with the Tyndall Mental Health Team to provide for the spiritual and emotional wellness of our Airmen. We know there has long been a stigma around mental health care in the military, but we encourage you to be informed. Mental health care poses little risk, for example, to a security clearance where NOT seeking mental health care CAN.

If you have questions about seeking mental health care you can reach out and schedule an “information gathering” session with mental health directly or with a Chaplain Corps at Tyndall team member.

Update on Sunday Services due to Global Health Crisis

Due to the ongoing global health crisis, an increase in COVID numbers both on and off Tyndall AFB, and to help protect our Airmen and their families, we are limiting attendance at each service to 25 persons beginning on Sunday, 8 August 2021. We ask that you voluntarily give first priority to on-base residents and their families, and mission essential individuals working on base. Current base and DoD policy directs 100% masking for all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, for those medically able to do so, as well as social distancing. Our staff will follow strict cleaning guidelines between services.

It is critical at this time that everyone self-screen for COVID symptoms. If you feel at all unwell or have any symptoms of COVID we ask that you remain home to protect our communities and the base population. Likewise if you prefer to stay home for health and safety reasons, please feel comfortable doing so. We know that we are bound together in spirit even when we do not gather together.

Service times:

Roman Catholic Mass at 0900

Protestant Service of Word and Table at 1100

Service location:
The Chaplain Corps space at Horizons (the base club) – enter through the south (beach side) doors

The Chaplain Corps at Tyndall bid farewell to TSgt Erik Winter last week. TSgt Winter has been providing backfill during a recent staff deployment and was a huge support to our team and a blessing to the Tyndall Community. We wish you fair skies and tailwinds as you continue your journey in the Florida Air National Guard!
