Thursday brings another chance for severe weather, with the best chances once again remaining southeast of the region. Still, could get a couple severe storms in northwest Iowa tomorrow afternoon and evening, so keep an eye on the sky just in case.

Secure those loose items ahead of advancing showers and thunderstorms! Gusty winds will push across the remainder of southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa through 1 am, as high as 40 to 50 mph. From midnight to 3 am, storms could become more persistent toward the lower Missouri River valley and produce some heavier rainfall of an inch or more.

Yes, we have very high fire danger today, but some areas are still dealing with too much water as well. Welcome to Spring! Watch for flooding of roads and low-lying areas near rivers. Strong southerly winds will usher in warmer temperatures today and especially Monday. In fact, many locations could come close to or exceed 80 degrees Monday afternoon. A few showers or thunderstorms become possible by late this evening with a better chance of thunderstorms by late Monday and Monday night ahead of an incoming cold front. Any storms Monday stand a chance at being strong to severe, especially along and west of I-29. Now would be a good time to brush off your severe weather preparedness skills and, as always, stay weather aware!

Look for warmer temperatures and abundant sunshine to prevail throughout the region into the weekend. For your local forecast, please visit http://weather.gov/fsd.

Have multiple ways to receive weather information!

A very good reminder, especially when 4 of our NOAA Weather Radio transmitters are still down, and may not be available for the 10:15am CDT South Dakota Severe Weather Awareness Week test Tornado Warning this morning (Wednesday 4/25). We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, as technicians from telecommunications companies continue to work on the problem.
