As gardeners, we are surrounded by beautiful plants that we grow indoors or outdoors. While some of these plants and flowers are readily edible, and many are, some of the most widely grown ornamental flowers can be fatal. As you look around your garden, you probably aren’t wondering about the toxicity of the plant’s you’ve …

The worlds of home gardeners and antique aficionados often overlap, with a good number of folks counting both as their favorite past time. While the two hobbies are often enjoyed by the same people, it’s not as often that they directly intersect. We would love to change that! We’ve gathered a sampling of images from …

What a very nice garden club meeting today. Many happenings for next year have been planned. We had our third annual pot luck. We all brought items for the sharing table. We celebrated a special occasion as well. Our dear Maggie is turning 91yrs., on Thanksgiving day. We surprised her with a beautiful birthday cake that one of our members made just for her. She was thrilled and started to cry. We also had the florist make up a tea cup with pink roses to match the cake. Her granddaughter and her great granddaughter came to surprise her. It was so very nice. We all love her and are amazed at what she still does at her age! Reports were given about the Jr. Garden club that we started up in partnership with 4-h. The first year has been very busy with planting sweet corn, watermelons and pumpkins. Sales were very good. At the 4h open house brought 30 new members for this next year. We currently have 5 families who have joined. We are planning to have field trips, grow some new things this year that the kiddos want to try. Our club is going to have a tour of everyone's gardens who are members, take a trip to vermilion to see a farm, shop downtown and have lunch at cafe brulé, take a trip to Lennox to visit grandma gails barn for fresh garden vegetables and shop in the huge barn. We are also going to head to Freeman to see the nursery there. So all of these trips and another visit to the Amish which is always very enjoyable. We will be dark until April and start up again. As always we are open to anyone who would like to come and see what we do. Leave a message on our page and one of our officers will get back to you.
