Simply Social Kids

Simply Social Kids Simply Social Kids offers online and in person (MA only) social coaching to build friendship skills and improve overall well-being for ages 8-young adult.

Simply Social Kids offers simple solutions for children/teens/young adults who have social challenges. Many have ADHD, high functioning autism, anxiety, or are a bit awkward in social settings. Delivered in a friendly, welcoming environment, participants are taught the social nuances that are easily generalized into school, home and community. They learn how to interact with others to initiate and

maintain true friendships. Weekly groups include conversation skills, social and resiliency lessons with dozens of entertaining, and often hilarious, games.

You've tried playdates. Sports. The school group. And your child is still struggling.

Most programs explain social skills. But friendship doesn't happen on a tip sheet. It happens in the moment, when things get awkward and your child doesn't know what to do next.

That's exactly what I coach for. What's something you've tried that just didn't work? Share below. Other parents need to hear they're not alone. Now enrolling for our summer social groups online and in person for ages 8 - adult. Link in comment

Every summer, I think about the opportunities kids have when school lets out.

Summer gives children something they often don't get enough of during the school year: time to connect with other people.

Researchers have found that today's kids spend less time socializing face-to-face than previous generations. Fewer chances to practice conversation, build confidence, and figure out friendship.
That's why real-world social experiences matter. And it's exactly what we focus on at Simply Social Kids.

Our summer program begins July 6, and space is limited.

One of my girls handed me a list at the start of group. Topics she wanted to talk about.

I loved that she did that. It showed real self awareness.

But then I asked her: when the other kids brought up something they were excited about, were you interested in that too?

Making friends is not a presentation. It is a two way street. You can absolutely bring your own topics and interests. But if you want someone to be your friend, you have to be genuinely curious about what lights them up too.

The list was a great start. Caring about their list is what makes it a friendship.

The skill that quietly changes everything for kids socially? It is not what most people expect.

It doesn’t always look like shyness.

For one girl I worked with, it looked like big stories. Exaggerated. Sometimes edgy. Always trying to get a reaction.

She wasn’t a difficult kid. She was an unseen kid.

Once she found a group where kids genuinely liked her ideas and wanted to play with her, something shifted. The stories got smaller. The embellishments stopped. She didn’t need them anymore.

Social confidence isn’t something you teach directly. It grows when a child finally feels like they belong somewhere.

If your child performs for attention or pushes limits to get a reaction, that might be worth a second look.
