Matt Drewno of Victory Gardens for Peace shared this message with so many resources to check out!:
"Here are a few updates I wanted to send your way with things happening now and moving into the new year. Most urgent, is that our fundraiser for transitioning the community seed collection into earthquake proof jars is ending in 4 days and we are only $155 from our goal, if you know anyone who would be interested in helping keep our community seeds safe, please share!

Victory Gardens for Peace Community Seed Bank Fundraiser
THANK YOU ALL WHO HAVE DONATED!
We are $155 from reaching our goal and have only 4 days left! If we can hit our goal we will be transitioning all jars into earthquake proof, food grade containers. That good shake we had last week knocked several jars from the shelves, but we were lucky to escape any major damage. These shatterproof jars will also help us mobilize the seed bank in the case of emergency, and also to travel and distribute free seeds and educational materials to farmers markets, schools, community gardens and other fun events! The fundraiser ends at midnight on the 14th, 4 days from now, every little bit helps, please feel free to pass this link along to anyone you think may wish to help! Here is the link:

2 Free Seed Cleaning Workshops on Saturdays February 1st and 8th at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens
No need to register, just come! We will have 3 sets of seed cleaning screens and will be giving demos on cleaning a wide variety of heirloom, organic flowers, herbs, vegetables and grains. If you saved seed this year, feel free to bring them. You can contribute seed to the seed bank anytime, but this is a great opportunity to share with the community- and of course, you can use our screens and get some guidance helping clean them as well. We will provide instruction and a brief ~30 minute presentation on seed cleaning, storage and preservation. We will meet in the farmhouse- if you need more information, just email me.

2-Day Heirloom Seed Saving Workshop at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens: January 25-26th 10:00AM-3:00PM
Matt will be teaching a 2-day intensive workshop covering all aspects of saving heirloom seeds here on the coast. Heirloom herbs, flowers and vegetables are varieties developed by generations of seed savers that are uniquely adapted for their unique characteristics and form the backbone of sustainable agriculture- they are also precious resources for our future. Come join us and share in the learning of how we can become better seed savers and stewards of our seed saving heritage!
