Before and After

The City of Ukiah's Fire Fuels Crew is working on vegetation management along the Rail Trail this week, reducing hazardous fuels adjacent to homes and critical infrastructure.

Funded through grants and operated through the Ukiah Valley Fire Authority, this work helps reduce wildfire risk, improve defensible space, and strengthen community resilience.

The Ukiah Valley Fire Authority—our partnership between the City of Ukiah and the Ukiah Valley Fire District—continues to invest in proactive wildfire mitigation to help protect our community.

Please help keep our community safe! As temperatures rise and vegetation dries out, reducing fire hazards becomes a shared responsibility. Property owners taking proactive steps to help protect our community during fire season is essential.

Property owners are required to do the following:

• Cut all weeds and grasses to under 4 inches in height
• Remove dry vegetation from the property
• Clear flammable debris, including cardboard, pallets, trash, wood, and similar materials
• Maintain these conditions throughout the fire season

Beginning on June 1, 2026, Code Enforcement staff will conduct citywide inspections. Properties requiring attention will receive a courtesy notice and be provided 10 days to correct vegetation and debris fire hazards.

By maintaining your property, you are helping protect your neighbors, first responders, and the entire City of Ukiah community. Together, we can help reduce wildfire risk and keep our community safe.

For questions, additional information, or to report overgrown vegetation fire hazards please contact the City of Ukiah Code Enforcement Division at: (707) 467-5715 or [email protected].
