This morning, at approximately 0850 hrs., a red Honda Civic was involved in a solo-vehicle crash on US-101 S/B, south of Golden Rule. The vehicle came to rest blocking the #2 lane of US-101 after the driver lost control, struck the concrete jersey wall, and was deflected into the metal guardrail. Excessive speed is suspected to be a major contributor to the crash. The roadway was reopened at 0930 hrs. and only minor injuries were suffered by the driver.

A car fire on the right hand shoulder of US-101 N/B, north of N. State St., will have the #2 lane closed for a short period of time. No injuries were involved and the CHP, along with Good Samaritans, responded immediately to help put out the blaze. CDF is now on scene to ensure the fire is out and a tow truck is on the way to remove the vehicle.

📚 Back to School Bash 2026! 📚🎒

This morning, CHP Ukiah was proud to join our community at the 12th Annual Back to School Bash, sponsored by The River, at the Alex Rorabaugh Recreation Center in Ukiah!

This FREE event brought families together to help local K–12 students get ready for the new school year. Students and families enjoyed: Free backpacks & school supplies, Free haircuts, Free food & tacos, Bike raffles, prizes & games, Community and business resource booths

A huge thank you to The River and all of the community partners, businesses, volunteers, and organizations who helped make this event possible. Events like this are a great reminder of what makes our community so special!

CHP and UPD is on scene of a small aircraft crash at North Main St and East Smith Street, in Ukiah. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries.
The crash has resulted in downed power lines and power outages in the surrounding area. PG&E crews are on scene working alongside law enforcement to safely restore power and secure the area.
🚧 Please avoid the area to allow emergency personnel and utility crews to work safely and efficiently. Use alternate routes if possible.

A wildfire is impacting the area of Covelo. Smoke, reduced visibility, and emergency personnel are actively responding.

Right now there is a small grass fire on US 101 S/B at Brush St. Fire units are on scene and the CHP has closed the #2 lane of US 101 S/B. The #1 lane is still open for southbound traffic but expect delays until the fire is completely extinguished and first responders have cleared the area.
