A celebration is planned Monday for program participants who have successfully graduated from the Mendocino County Day Reporting Center, county officials announced this week.
In a press release, officials explained that GEO Reentry Services and the Mendocino County Probation Department will host a transition celebration on Monday, Sept. 8, at 5 p.m. at the Behavioral Health Regional Training Center, located at 8207 East Road in Redwood Valley.
“For program graduates, the celebration follows months of regular reporting to the DRC or its Willits’ satellite location, cognitive behavioral treatment and training and monitoring for substance use,” the release explains, noting that “state and local officials, program staff, graduates, family members and probation officers are invited to the event.”
People expected to speak at the event include:
Judge Keith Faulder, Mendocino County Superior Court
Captain Gregory L. Van Patten, Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office
Chief Probation Officer Izen Locatelli
Supervisor Maureen Mulheren, Mendocino County District 2
Supervisor Bernie Norvell, Mendocino County District 4
The release further describes the Day Reporting Center as located in the Mendocino County Probation Department at 579 Low Gap Road, with a satellite office in Willits, and that “The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors selected GEO Reentry to open the DRC in 2012 for individuals on probation released to community supervision. The center can service up to 50 adults on probation at one time, and its goal is to reduce recidivism and overcrowding at the Mendocino County Jail. Participants referred to the center receive evidence-based cognitive behavioral treatment provided to reduce recidivism and create long-lasting changes in behavior.”
