The Sheriff’s office was very fortunate today at the Potter Valley Memorial Weekend Parade. This year’s Grand Marshal is Yvonne Bell. Yvonne served our communities for many years as a member of the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team.

Big thank you to Yvonne and all of our Search and Rescue members who help us keep our residents safe.

This weekend let’s all remember those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. I hope we can all realize our freedoms weren’t free.
If you can, please thank a veteran for their service. As always let’s all do our best to look out for our family, friends, and neighbors.

God Bless America!

Sheriff Matt Kendall

Telephone Scams Involving Incarcerated Persons

The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office has been alerted to a telephone scam where subjects are fraudulently impersonating law enforcement officials with the Sheriff’s Office. The subjects are demanding payment to release incarcerated family members into treatment programs or through an ankle monitoring program.

These fraud attempts are requesting payment through Zelle, Chime, or other digital payment programs to secure the release of their family members in custody.

The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office will never solicit payment or fees through such payment applications, nor does the Sheriff’s Office facilitate such releases through family members. If you receive any suspicious calls requesting such payments, immediately hang up and call the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office – 707-463-4086.
