Families and community members are invited to enjoy the movie, free popcorn, and Mexican sweet bread. A welcoming evening to enjoy a story centered on family and culture while spending time together as a community!

Upcoming Umatilla River Road Community Clean-Up
In partnership with AWS, the City is hosting a community clean-up along Umatilla River Road on Wednesday, September 9, and we invite ANYONE from the community to join us!

Location: Umatilla River Road, just south of 8th Street to Bensel Road
Volunteer Check-In Begins: 8:45 AM
Clean-Up: 9:00–10:30 AM
River Road Closure: 8:30–11:30 AM

Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes or sturdy boots and arrive at 8:45 AM for check-in and instructions. The City will provide necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).

Crews will work throughout the corridor to remove trash and large debris.

River Road will be CLOSED to through traffic from 8:30–11:30 AM, with access limited to residents within the closure area. We ask non-volunteers to avoid the area during this time to help keep volunteers and crews safe.

En colaboración con AWS, la ciudad realizará una limpieza comunitaria en Umatilla River Road el miércoles 9 de septiembre. ¡Toda la comunidad está invitada!

Lugar: Umatilla River Road, desde el sur de 8th Street hasta Bensel Road
Registro: 8:45 AM
Limpieza: 9:00–10:30 AM
Cierre de River Road: 8:30–11:30 AM

Upcoming Utility Construction on Powerline Road🚧
Beginning in early September, AWS will begin a utility infrastructure project along Powerline Road from Quail Avenue to Potato Lane. Work is expected to continue through May 2027.

The project will include the installation of new water and wastewater lines, fiber, and associated utility infrastructure.

During portions of the project, Powerline Road will be reduced to one lane. Drivers should expect possible delays, allow extra travel time, and use caution when traveling through the work area.

What to know:
• Work area: Powerline Road from Quail Avenue to Potato Lane
• Work begins: Early September 2026
• Expected completion: May 2027
• Work includes water and wastewater lines, fiber, and associated utility infrastructure
• Expect one-lane traffic at times and possible delays

This is an AWS project being performed by its contractor, not a City construction project

Help us spread the word! If you know someone who lives, works, or regularly travels along Powerline Road, please share this information with them so they can plan ahead.

We’ll share additional updates as more information becomes available.

Our Public Works crew has officially begun groundwork at Kiwanis Park to create 14 additional parking stalls!

Adding parking at Kiwanis Park has been a priority due to the park’s heavy traffic and limited parking availability. These additional spaces will help improve access and make visits more convenient for everyone who enjoys the park.

If you see our Public Works crew and equipment out at Kiwanis Park, you’ll know exciting things are happening!

We appreciate your patience while our crew works to make this much-needed improvement to the park.

Back to School, Umatilla! 📚✏️
This week marks the start of a new school year for many students in our community! While not everyone heads back on the same day, this is a good time for all of us to get back into our school-year driving habits.

Please slow down, drive carefully, watch for students and buses, and stay alert in school zones and neighborhoods. A little extra patience can help keep our students safe as they travel to and from school.

Wishing all Umatilla students, families, teachers, and school staff a safe and successful school year!
