UJFD Underhill Jericho Fire Department (UJFD) -this not an official UJFD page- The UJFD is located in the northeast corner of Chittenden County, Vermont.

The department provides emergency and fire protection services to Underhill, Jericho, West Bolton, part of Westford, and mutual aid coverage for surrounding towns. The department responds to approximately 200 emergency calls per year. We service all types of calls, from fires and auto accidents to floods and electrical problems. The firefighters perform enough work to fill a 40-hour workweek, yet

perform their duties as a part-time job (including attending training courses and committee work). The UJFD has always been a forward thinking department developing modern fire fighting techniques and programs. The department works hard to keep pace with growth of the towns we serve. The department continually examines the type of services needed and works to provide them. We currently maintain three dry hydrants in our towns.

An ankle injury on maple ridge trail on Mount Mansfield and a bunch of agencies helping us bringing the patient down safe. Manpower and ATVs did the trick. The UJFD thanks Stowe Mountain Rescue, Waterbury Backcountry team and Huntington Backcountry for assisting us on a workday call.

🚨 Incident Report – Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash on Silver Street 🚨

On the evening of Saturday, October 4 at 7:41 PM, the Hinesburg Fire Department (HFD) was dispatched to Silver Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving fire.

At the time, Hinesburg Engine 1 was actively engaged at a significant brush fire in Williston, but was able to respond directly from that scene. Additionally, two HFD firefighters stationed at the firehouse to provide town coverage during the Williston incident responded immediately and arrived on scene within minutes.

Upon arrival, crews discovered two vehicles involved:
- A pickup truck fully involved in fire
- A sedan with significant damage

A passing Milton firefighter bravely intervened and was able to pull the male driver from the burning pickup just before the vehicle became fully engulfed. According to a Vermont State Police media release, the female driver of the sedan was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel.

Charlotte Rescue was the first arriving ambulance and transported the male victim with significant injuries. Once the fire was extinguished, the scene was turned over to the Vermont State Police for investigation. Firefighters remained on scene with the road closed until shortly before midnight.

We extend sincere gratitude to our mutual aid partners, including those who responded from the fire in Williston to our scene:

Monkton Fire Department
Charlotte Rescue
Richmond Rescue
Essex Town Fire Department
Williston Fire Department

Special thanks to the Shelburne Communications Center dispatchers, who expertly managed both this crash and the ongoing Williston brush fire with professionalism and care.

This was an incredibly tragic scene, and our hearts go out to all those affected. We are deeply grateful to have had personnel in the firehouse available for a rapid response, and we especially commend the courageous bystander/first responder for their actions.
