We are pictured here at the University of Tennessee Lone Oaks Farm in Middleton, Tennessee for the groundbreaking of the new Wet Center, which will be used to train first responders for swift water rescue incidents and other water related rescue situations.
During today's ceremonies we heard from Hardeman County Mayor Todd Pulse, University of Tennessee President Randy Boyd, Congressman David Kustoff, TDEC Commissioner David Salyards, State Senator Paige Walley, and West Tennessee River Basin Authority Director David Blackwood.

Obion County and Weakley County Mayors Partner with LifeLine Pilots to Help Residents Improve Access to Medical Care

Mayor Steve Carr of Obion County and Mayor Dale Hutcherson of Weakley County are partnering with LifeLine Pilots, a nonprofit organization that provides free, non-emergency medical flights to help improve access to healthcare for area residents. Both Mayor Carr and Mayor Hutcherson are committed to raising awareness of this valuable resource, which helps remove the financial and logistical burden of long-distance medical travel for area residents.

Since 1981, LifeLine Pilots has coordinated volunteer pilots who donate their time, aircraft, and expertise to fly people who need medical care far from home. The organization serves passengers of all ages who must travel 100 to 1,000 miles for non-emergency care throughout its 10-state region, which includes Tennessee.

There is never a cost to fly with LifeLine Pilots, and there is no limit to the number of flights a passenger may take—only a qualifying medical need. Passengers commonly travel for cancer treatments, clinical trials, evaluations, second opinions, or specialty care not available locally.

LifeLine Pilots’ flights are made possible by highly experienced volunteer pilots using their privately owned aircraft. Safety is the organization’s top priority, and pilots are committed to ensuring both the comfort and security of every passenger.

Requesting a flight is simple. LifeLine Pilots guides each passenger through the process, including verification from a treating physician. Adults may travel with a companion, and children may be accompanied by up to two caregivers.

Basic Requirements for Requesting a LifeLine Pilots Flight:

• A need to travel long distances for medical treatment, verified by a physician

• Financial or logistical barriers to long-distance travel

• Medically stable and able to board a small aircraft with minimal assistance

For more information or to request a flight, call (800) 822 7972 or complete an online request form.

Since 1981, LifeLine Pilots (LLP) has provided no-cost air transportation for financially distressed passengers with medical and humanitarian needs. Our volunteer pilots have flown 6.9 million nautical miles and more than 12,000 missions with a 100% safety record. Missions are facilitated for all ages. Headquartered in Peoria, Illinois, LLP currently serves patients living in or traveling to the following 10 states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. LifeLine Pilots is a 501(c)(3) charity privately funded by individuals, corporations, and foundations, and is recognized with Candid’s Platinum Seal of Transparency and Charity Navigator’s Four-Star rating.

Connect with LifeLine Pilots at LifeLinePilots.org, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

I'm back in West Tennessee listening and learning.

Obion County Mayor Steve Carr shared his desire to see Interstate 69 finished and improvements made on West Tennessee roads.

If we want Tennesseans moving safely and efficiently, we need a Governor with a vision. I've got a sharp focus on maintaining, improving, and expanding our roadways. As your Governor, I'll get it done.
