Officer Shelly and Chief Pernice are pictured here with Crystal Lindberg, property manager of Manly Heights Apartments. On Thursday July 23, 2026, they gave a presentation to senior citizens about scams and how they can prevent themselves from becoming a victim.

Scam calls are unfortunately a frequent occurrence for the Union City Police Department. Our hope is that education to our community can minimize this horrible trend.

It’s been reported that coyotes have been frequenting the area of Warden and North Streets close to houses. This just serves as a notice to be cautious - not alarmed - as we have no reports of coyotes acting aggressively or strange. Coyotes are very common to the area and will typically act shy, so secure food/trash, keep pets close and make noise to scare them off. If they are acting aggressively or strange call 911 and we can respond. Otherwise, if the problem persists with nearby encounters, call the PA Game Commission.
