ENDORSEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

I am proud to announce the endorsement of AboBaker Mojadidi in my campaign for re-election to the Union City City Council.

Mr. Mojadidi is a spiritual, political and business leader not only in the Afghan community, but in Union City and the Bay Area. His family suffered greatly during the Soviet occupation of his country. Even through all of that, he is still a man that preaches peace and understanding by all.

I am honored to have the support of AboBaker Mojadidi who shares my commitment to keeping Union City, and the Bay Area, moving forward.

Over the past several years, we have accomplished a great deal together—but there is still more work to do.

I look forward to continuing our work to protect Union City’s financial future, strengthen public safety, improve city services, support our local businesses, and ensure that every neighborhood has a voice at City Hall.

Yesterday, as Vice Mayor of Union City, I got to welcome the Director General from Taiwan David Wu Chih-Hsiang and his entourage.

I presented him with a proclamation acknowledging the visit and we took some pictures with his entourage, city staff and members of the Chamber of Commerce.

We then went to the TECO SF office here in Union City. They recently moved here from Milpitas.

There, my friend Peter Kuo played a beautiful version of America the Beautiful on his violin. A tour of the facility was then given and lunch was served.

I had to leave a little early, but Mayor Singh showed up to take over shortly after.

These relationships are very important to our City. They bring investment and good paying jobs here for our residents. I look forward to more opportunities like this in the future for our City.

This is how we move our City forward to more prosperity!!!

On Tuesday, August 18, and Wednesday, August 19, 2026, ACWD’s contractor, Ranger Pipelines, will continue construction as part of ACWD’s seismic upgrades to strengthen and safeguard your water system for the future. Road closures and temporary traffic impacts are expected at the intersection of Alvarado-Niles Road and Almaden Boulevard, so please plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

What: Construction to improve water pipeline infrastructure
When: Tuesday, August 18 - 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Wednesday, August 19 – 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
*Project hours may be extended
Where: Intersection of Alvarado-Niles Road and Almaden Boulevard in Union City

We know this temporary traffic disruption may cause delays and added inconvenience for people traveling through the area. Crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to complete this phase of the project. Thank you for your patience as we complete necessary improvements that will help provide Union City customers with a reliable supply of high-quality water for the future.
