The Union City Police Department would like to inform the community that after several weeks of investigation, officers obtained and executed a search warrant at 704 Lynwood Ct., Union City, Ohio, related to numerous health and safety violations at the residence.

During the ex*****on of the initial search warrant, officers located illegal narcotics inside the home. As a result, a second search warrant was obtained, leading to the seizure of multiple illegal drugs and additional evidence. Investigators also discovered evidence indicating that methamphetamine was being manufactured inside the residence.

Due to the dangerous and unsanitary conditions found within the home, the Darke County Health Department has condemned the property and determined the residence to be uninhabitable for humans. Multiple steps and extensive remediation will be required before the residence can ever be considered livable again.

At this time, the Village of Union City has secured the property by boarding all windows and entrances. Any individuals found unlawfully entering or occupying the residence will be subject to arrest.

The Union City Police Department encourages community members to continue reporting suspicious activity and concerns to the department. Numerous items of evidence were collected during the investigation and will be processed by the crime lab. Upon completion of the investigation, criminal charges will be submitted to the Darke County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

The Union City Police Department remains committed to protecting the safety and wellbeing of our community.

Juvenile Arrested Following Threat at School Bus Stop

Union City, Ohio – This morning, officers with the Union City Police Department were dispatched to the 200 block of North Sycamore Street in reference to a complaint involving a male subject who allegedly threatened to kill another student while brandishing what appeared to be a firearm. The incident occurred in the area of a bus stop where several school-aged children were gathered awaiting transportation.

Officers arrived quickly and were able to identify the involved individual as a 16-year-old male. Officers then responded to the juvenile’s residence. Initial attempts to make contact at the home were unsuccessful. The juvenile’s father was contacted and responded to the residence. Upon his arrival, the 16-year-old male exited the home without further incident.

During a subsequent search of the residence, officers located a black firearm matching the description provided. Further investigation determined the item to be an airsoft gun designed to closely resemble an actual firearm.

The 16-year-old male was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Menacing and Inducing Panic. He was transported for processing in accordance with juvenile procedures.

The Union City Police Department takes all threats involving schools and student safety seriously. We appreciate the quick reporting by those who witnessed the incident, which allowed officers to respond promptly and ensure the safety of the children and the community.

This incident remains under investigation.
