Obion County Soil Conservation District

Obion County Soil Conservation District We are located within the USDA Service Center and the Natural Resources office. We have staff available to provide technical services to local landowners.

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) have staff on site to assist landowners with several different cost share programs and the technical assistance to implement those programs in order to improve and control soil erosion. The Soil Conservation District (SCD) is on site to assist the NRCS with accomplishing the tasks mentioned previously. The SCD not only works in partnership with the

NRCS but also with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA). The TDA provides grant funds to be distributed through the districts to local landowners in order to improve water quality within the county.

Due Notice is hereby given that an election will be held on March 12, 2026, for (3) three positions on the Obion County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Board. Candidates for the election are as follows: Jason Crabtree, Nick Dial, Derek Giffin, and Lee Jay Hobbs.
Polling locations will be :1216 Stad Ave, Union City TN 38261 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Nominating petition submittal deadline is March 5, 2026, by 3:00 pm to the Obion County Soil and Water Conservation District office at 1216 Stad Ave Union City, TN.
Per TCA ~$43-14-214, only people holding legal title to lands in Obion County are eligible to vote in this election.

Obion County Soil and Water Conservation District and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) visited Hillcrest Elementary School in Troy to discuss their careers as Soil Conservationists and how they help the local agriculture community. They spoke about different conservation practices they implement, how their education got them into their careers, and what a future career in agriculture could look like.
