🚒 UNION CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT TRAINING NIGHT 🚒

Last night, members of the Union City Fire Department participated in hands-on training focused on vehicle extrication and patient care during rescue operations.

We were excited to have our friends from the Minco Fire Department join us for the evening. Together, we worked through several realistic rescue scenarios, allowing firefighters and medical personnel to sharpen their skills, improve teamwork, and strengthen coordination during emergency incidents.

Training like this helps ensure that when an emergency happens, our crews are prepared to provide the safest and most effective care possible.

A big thank you to everyone who participated. Everyone did an outstanding job, and we all walked away having learned something new.

After months of construction, delays, detours, and anticipation, Highway 152 between Union City and Mustang is OFFICIALLY OPEN! 🎉🎉🎉

🙌 A smoother, quicker drive is back!

A huge thank you to everyone for your patience throughout this project. We know this roadway is important to our community, and we’re excited to see it open and serving travelers once again.

🚗💨 Load up the car, enjoy the drive, and take a moment to celebrate this long-awaited milestone!

What a great day for the Union City Fire Department and Union City Police Department!

Today, we had the opportunity to treat the winners of our Fire Prevention Week and Red Ribbon Week door prizes to a pizza lunch. 🍕

This pre-K class was an absolute blast to spend time with, and let us tell you… those little rascals can EAT some pizza! 😂 We’re pretty sure a few of them may not need supper tonight lol.

We always enjoy getting to spend time with the kids in our community and making memories with them. Thank you to the teachers and staff for letting us come hang out with such an awesome group today!

🚨 SEVERE WEATHER ALERT – APRIL 14, 2026 🚨
Union City Fire & Police Departments

Good afternoon everyone,

There is a risk of severe weather today, with storms possibly starting around 4:00–5:00 PM and potentially coming in multiple rounds.

👉 What we are doing:
• Fire & Police are actively monitoring storms from the EOC
• Storm spotters will be out in the field
• If needed, the old gymnasium (downstairs at the school) will be opened for shelter

🚨 TORNADO SIRENS
• Sirens will sound if a tornado or dangerous storm is approaching our area
• They will stay on as long as the threat continues
• We DO NOT sound an “all clear”

⚠️ IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
• Sirens are for OUTDOOR warning only – you may not hear them inside
• Do NOT rely only on sirens – they can fail
• Turn on weather alerts on your phone
• Watch local weather coverage

This is one of the hardest decisions we make. We will always err on the side of caution, but storms can form quickly—so please stay alert and use your best judgment.

The railroad crossings are currently blocked at the following locations:
• Division Street
• Southwest 59th Street
• Emergency crossing south of Division

At this time, we have not received confirmation on the cause or how long the crossings will remain blocked.

🚗 Alternate Route:
Please use 44th Street to travel across the railroad until further notice.

We will provide updates as more information becomes available.

🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT – LANE CLOSURES 🚧

Attention Union City residents and travelers:

Beginning Thursday, March 26, construction crews will begin milling and paving work at the intersection of Highway 81 & Highway 152.

🔶 What to Expect:
• Northbound & Southbound Hwy 81 will be reduced to one lane in each direction
• Division Street will have short, temporary closures as needed for equipment crossing
• Work will take place in the immediate intersection area shown in the project map

⏱️ Expect delays and use caution when traveling through the area.

We appreciate your patience as these improvements are completed to make our roadways safer and smoother for everyone.

RAILROAD CROSSING ROAD CLOSURES

The Union City area will experience temporary road closures on Friday, March 20, as crews complete work on multiple railroad crossings.

🕙 START TIME: 10:00 AM
📍 Locations (in order):

1️⃣ Division Street (just west of Highway 81)
• Closed for approximately 2 hours
• 🚗 Detour: Please use SW 59th Street

2️⃣ SW 59th Street (just west of Highway 81)
• Will close after Division Street reopens
• Closed for approximately 2 hours

3️⃣ SW 29th Street (just west of Highway 81)
• Will close after SW 59th Street reopens
• Closed for approximately 2 hours

⚠️ Important:
• Only one crossing will be closed at a time
• Work will move sequentially from one location to the next

Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution in the work zones.
