Copied from the West Co Paramedic Association:
🚌 SCHOOL IS BACK — DO YOU KNOW WHEN TO STOP? 🛑

As students across our communities head back to school, it’s a good time for a refresher on Pennsylvania’s school bus laws.

One of the biggest misconceptions? A four-lane road does NOT automatically mean traffic traveling in the opposite direction can continue.

🔴 Flashing RED lights + stop arm = STOP.

Whether you’re on a two-lane road, a four-lane road, or a roadway with a center turning lane, traffic traveling in both directions must stop.

The major exception is a physically divided highway. Traffic traveling on the opposite side of the physical divider may proceed.

🟡 Flashing yellow lights? Slow down and prepare to stop.
🔴 Flashing red lights? STOP at least 10 feet from the bus.

A few seconds of patience behind a school bus is a very small price to pay for a child's safety.

Slow down. Pay attention. Know the law. Our kids are counting on us. ❤️
