HALF DAY — WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2

Due to the continued heat and temperatures in several of our buildings, Union City Community Schools will have a half day of school tomorrow, Wednesday, September 2.

Students who attend centers in the afternoon will still have buses provided for them to attend as normal as those buildings have air conditioning.

For students participating in after-school activities, activity leaders and coaches will communicate directly with families regarding any changes to practices or schedules due to the weather.

Thank you to our students and staff for making the best of the heat today, and thank you to our families for your understanding.

October 4 kicks off National 4-H Week, which is a great time to celebrate 4-H and get excited for a new 4-H year! 4-H is Michigan’s largest youth development organization for youth ages 5–19, offering opportunities in a wide variety of areas and interests, including agriculture, animals, STEM, cooking, arts, leadership, and much more.

We’ve officially completed the Design Development stage of our UCES bond project, making this a great time to share a look at some of the improvements currently being planned!

As you watch the video, please keep in mind that the project is not yet finalized. We still have one final stage of design ahead of us, and some elements may change as we continue refining plans, reviewing costs, and preparing the project to go out for bid.

We’re excited about the progress being made and look forward to continuing to share updates as we work toward creating an improved learning environment that allows us to better Educate and Prepare Each Child for their Future here at Union City Community Schools!

We are just a couple of weeks away from officially opening the Union City Food Club, and the support we have received has been incredible.

Through the generosity of the individuals, farms, and businesses, 52 animals were purchased and donated from the Branch County Fair to support the Food Club, providing several hundred pounds of locally sourced meat that will soon be available to Union City families. We cannot thank these supporters enough for investing in our students and community.

Additionally, a huge thank you to AcMoody Farms for donating 40 boxes of assorted Red Gold products to help stock our shelves.

We are incredibly excited to have the Union City Food Club up and operational in just a couple of weeks! Thank you to everyone who has donated, partnered with us, spread the word, or helped make this possible. This is truly a community effort.

Community Unlimited is exploring the possibility of offering free educational before-school and after-school programming for Union City students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

iPad and Computer sale 2nd time. We’ll be available this Wednesday the 19th of August for those that want to purchase an iPad. We have a couple TVs and a few desktop computers left. The iPads are $80 each. 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the high school. Park in the east lot and enter through the east door.

Excited to see everyone tomorrow!

The Union City Cross Country team is excited to host a community 5K on the evening of August 14th.
After the race, a community cookout will be provided, sponsored by Union City Athletic Boosters. The cookout is free for all, and you do not need to run the race to join the cookout. We would like to thank the community for supporting Union City schools and making it possible to purchase land to create a new cross-country course.
If you register today, you can still secure a T-shirt. Fees will be paid at registration. This is a friendly, untimed, recreational event intended for all. Any questions can be directed to Jessica Decker at [email protected].
