Drivers and front-seat passengers must always buckle up, per Tennessee law. Everyone in the vehicle, in ALL seating positions should buckle up for safety reasons. Reduced speeds are put in place for the safety of children. Slowing down “a little” is not enough when it comes to school zones. If a driver is going over the speed limit during active times, that means they are breaking the law.

Recently, we proudly celebrate an incredible 30-year employment milestone for one of our dedicated law enforcement officers, Sgt Michael Moore!

For three decades, Sgt Moore has answered the call, served the community, supported fellow officers, and demonstrated an unwavering commitment to public safety. Thirty years represents countless hours, difficult calls, sacrifices, and memories made along the way.

We are incredibly grateful for the experience, dedication, professionalism, and service you have given to our agency and to Obion County.

As students return to school, please slow down and stay alert, especially around school buses and bus stops.

Passing a stopped school bus when the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended is against the law. Drivers in both directions are required to stop, except when the roadway is divided by a physical median, such as a concrete barrier or grass divider.

Violating this law in Tennessee can lead to a fine and add 8 points to your driver's license.

It is illegal to pass a stopped school bus with flashing red lights and an extended stop sign. Vehicles traveling in both directions must stop, unless separated by a physical median (like a grass divider or concrete barrier).

Watch for children waiting at bus stops and crossing the street. Always reduce your speed in residential areas.
