Regarding a recent notification letter that was mailed out, the following is additional information we feel is important to know.

- Disinfection by-products (TTHM, HAA5) are formed from the reaction of disinfectants (chlorine) and organic matter. Disinfection is an essential step in the treatment process to ensure all bacteria and viruses are eliminated.
-The Municipal Authority regularly samples for disinfection by-products (TTHM, HAA5.)
- The sampling period runs from July to October; DEP exceedances occur AFTER the end of the sampling period.
-UCMA received the exceedance letter from the DEP on November 6th, 2025, and subsequently mailed out the required DEP letter to all customers on November 15th, 2025.

Though disinfection by-products could have negative health effects after years of consumption at levels above the MCL (Maximum Contaminant Level), resampling results at the location indicated the concentration was under the MCL. As concentrations continue to drop under the MCL during the lower organic months, chances of any negative health effects remain extremely slim.

We understand any and all concerns regarding the public water supply and take them seriously. We work closely with the DEP to be in compliance with all federal and state regulations. As always UCMA is committed to provide clean and safe drinking water to all its customers.

FREE Options:
1. ACH payments from checking or savings, contact the Authority for the ACH payment form.
2. Mailing your bill.
3. Payment drop-box located at the water office location.
4. Set up payment options on your bank or credit union website or APP.

Other Payment Options- Fee based payments.
1. Create a personal customer account at the online portal site @ ucma.citizenactioncenter.com where you can A. Set up your account B. View your bill. C. Pay online.
2. Portal Fees are: A. Credit or Debit payment is 3% of your bill or $3.00 minimum charge. B. E-Check payment is only $1.50 charge.

Hydrant Flushing: The Union City Municipal Authority will be flushing fire hydrants tonight, Monday, June 30th and Tuesday, July 1st. Hydrant flushing will start at approximately 7:00pm tonight and finish during the day on Tuesday and/or Wednesday. You may experience some dirty water and even low water pressure during the flushing period but the water is safe to use and will clear up over time. As a precaution, you may not want to do laundry tonight or tomorrow to prevent staining of your clothing. TO: ALL CUSTOMERS

Please be advised that starting at the end of May 2025, the Union City Municipal Authority will be implementing a new billing system for our monthly water and sewer invoicing. Your invoice will look new and improved. The monthly charges, rates, and account numbers will remain the same.

Beginning in June, you will now have access to pay bills online. A service fee will apply for all online payments. You also have the option of paying by no-fee ACH through your bank. If you wish to use the no-fee ACH payment option, please complete the enclosed form and return it to our office, either by mail, or leave it in our drive-through drop box.

If you do not wish to use any of the automatic payment options, payments can still be mailed or left in our drive-through drop box.

This post is to address the confusion on whether your galvanized water service line to your home or business needs replacement. The letter that went out to our customers, is required notification by the PA-DEP and all water systems must send these letters out notifying water customers that they have lead pipe or pipe that may contain lead during the making of the pipe material.

The UCMA employees will be doing required door-to-door meter inspections for updating system inventories at customer homes and businesses.
