As EMS Week comes to a close on Remembrance Day, we honor the lives, dedication, and sacrifices of those who have lost their life in the line of duty.
Every year, UEMU grant scholarships in the name of Kevin Appuzio to our High School Seniors volunteers.

With that being said, UEMU would love to extend a huge congratulations to this year’s scholarship winners Henry Solares and Sofia Muñoz. These scholarships were made possible through the Appuzio family’s generosity and support.

Henry and Sofia have shown hard work and commitment to serving others. We can’t wait to see what else you accomplish in the future.

Today we kicked off EMS by celebrating two of our graduating seniors at the Union High School Senior Awards night. President Aryanna Aneiros was joined by Chief Eastman and scholarship committee member Ana Figuerido to present the Kevin Apuzzio Memorial Scholarship. Union Emergency Medical Unit gives out this scholarship every year to give back to our members who embody the spirit of kindness and volunteerism that was present in our former member Kevin, who passed away in the line of duty.

This year our scholarship recipients were Henry Solares and Sofia Munoz. These two students have set an excellent example of what it means to give back to your community through their kindness and compassion. These two students also received other awards at the ceremony. Henry also was awarded the Union Little League Scholarship and Sofia was awarded the Ellen Rever Scholarship in ESL.

We are so proud of are students and sp grateful that we get the chance to support and watch their success. These two students have incredibly bright futures ahead of them!

We absolutely ADORE our four legged friends here at UnionEMU.

Yesterday we had one of our favorites stop by and visit his owner and all of our staff.

UnionEMU also supplies all of our ambulance with pet oxygen masks to make sure that in emergencies we are also equipped to take care of our communities pets.

Just a reminder that as the warm months kick in to keep our favorite little buddies hydrated and away from hot blacktop.

Yesterday, Union EMU made rounds at local schools, Town Hall and others dropping off cases of juice and sharing some extra smiles along the way ✨

A big thank you to Snapple for their generous donation enabling us to give back to the community we serve 🧡

Thank you Captain Solares and Lieutenant Victoriá for driving around town delivering and bringing smiles wherever they went.

We finished the day with a Free Cone from our local Dairy Queen 🍦

In 2025, Union EMU conducted the Field Training Officer (FTO) and Field Training & Evaluation Program (FTEP) class. These individuals play a critical role in mentoring, training, and shaping the future of our organization, ensuring the highest standards of service.
UEMU were accompanied by surrounding agencies and from Florida: Springfield First Aid Squad, Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad, Neptune Township EMS, Elizabeth Fire Department EMS and Sarasota County Fire Department.
Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, knowledge, and leadership to make this training a success. The investment in ourselves strengthens each team represented and the communities we serve.
