Franklin County Missouri Democrats Monthly meetings are held every 4th Monday, 7pm at the Franklin County Government Center in Union, MO. You can also attend via zoom.

Our goal is to support not just Democrats but all Missourians who care to join us in responding to the conduct of public affairs and public office in every worthy and honest way possible so that our government and society may continue to provide freedom and justice for all under the kind of strong leadership embodying the best of Missouri’s heritage.

A HIGHER BAR FOR VOTERS THAN FOR POLITICIANS

Would you sign a contract where the other party plays by different rules than you do?

Most people wouldn't. But that's exactly what this proposed amendment asks Missouri voters to accept.

Here's the deal: if citizens want to amend the state constitution, Amendment 4 would require a statewide majority PLUS a majority in ALL 8 congressional districts.

Lawmakers who want to amend the Constitution? They'd still only need a SIMPLE MAJORITY — no extra hoops, no higher bar.

Citizens. Harder path. Legislators. Easy street. That's it.

For more than 115 years, Missourians have used citizen initiatives to shape the policies that affect their daily lives. This amendment would quietly chip away at that power — while leaving lawmakers' authority completely intact.

We Stand United Missouri believes this is fundamentally unfair to all Missourians — no matter which party you support, no matter how you vote. Equal rules shouldn't be a partisan issue.

The Missouri constitution says that any tax increase must be voted on by Missouri citizens. This amendment would eliminate that and give the power to raise taxes to the state. Eliminating the income tax would also place more of the burden for state funding on low and middle income earners.
