IL OSFM Grant

The Union Fire Protection District has received a Small Equipment Grant of $15,000 from the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal. This grant will be used to replace aging outdated thermal imaging cameras and replacing outdated 2-way radios .

This funding will provide firefighters with the emergency equipment needed to safely respond to emergencies.

The district acknowledges the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal for its ongoing support of fire departments throughout the state.

With temperatures heating up across the McHenry County, make sure you are taking precautions to stay safe in the heat! ☀️🔥

✅ Drink plenty of water — even if you don’t feel thirsty
✅ Take frequent breaks if working outside
✅ Wear light-colored and lightweight clothing
✅ Never leave children or pets in vehicles
✅ Check on elderly neighbors and family members
✅ Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke

⚠️ Signs of Heat Exhaustion:

Heavy sweating
Dizziness
Nausea
Weakness
Headache

🚨 Signs of Heat Stroke (CALL 911):

Confusion
Loss of consciousness
Hot/dry skin
Body temp above 103°
