Burn injuries don’t just happen at work; they can happen at home, too. Scald injuries can affect anyone at any age, and children, older adults, and people with disabilities are especially at risk.

Hot bath water, coffee, tea, and even microwaved soup can cause serious, life-changing injuries. Scalds are the second leading cause of burn injuries.

Following guidance from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), simple steps like testing bath water, keeping hot drinks out of reach, letting food cool before eating, and turning pot handles inward can help prevent injuries.

The Union Fire Department will have 24-hour emergency staffing throughout the holiday weekend.
The business office will close on Wednesday the 26th at 4 pm and re-open on Monday December 1st at 8 am.
