A huge thank‑you to our newest graduates for dedicating their Monday evenings over the past several weeks attending our Citizen's Police Academy where they learned more about the Sheriff’s Office, met the Sheriff and command staff, and received an inside look at how we serve our community.

Your time, engagement, and willingness to connect made a real difference, and we’re grateful for each of you.

We’re proud to share our group photo from graduation—again, congratulations on a job well done!

If you’re a Franklin County resident interested in joining a future Citizen’s Police Academy class, I’d love to hear from you. Please reach out to me at [email protected] for more information.

From May 18th to May 31st, 2026, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office and the Franklin County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit will be participating in a MODOT-sponsored Click It or Ticket campaign event. The goal during this time frame is to ensure compliance regarding seatbelt usage within Franklin County, as well as the continued safety of our citizens. Missouri's statewide seatbelt usage rate in 2025 was 88.5%. However, unbuckled occupants still account for more than half of all traffic fatalities on Missouri roads. Everyone can help make our roads safer by obeying traffic laws. As always, remember, BUCKLE UP & PHONES DOWN.

In 2011, then Deputy Herwig began the D.A.R.E. Kids for Vets Campaign. This project was to challenge his D.A.R.E. Kids to do something to give back to their community. Being a veteran of Operation Iraq Freedom, now Detective Sergeant Herwig along with Lt. Harden challenged their students to gather toiletry items for veterans in need. We have had a few new D.A.R.E. Officers since then, but the program is still going strong!

Deputy Burgess's 5th-grade students from Clearview Elementary won this semester’s D.A.R.E. Kids for Vets Challenge by collecting the most average items per student. The students were brought here to the Sheriff's Office to celebrate their accomplishment. First, the students had a chance to speak with veterans from the community and our office and to hear about some of their experiences in the military. Then, they headed up to our D.O.D building to check out some of the equipment our officers utilize. They also had a chance to explore one of the military vehicles brought over from the Armory in St. Clair. And finally, they finished off the day with pets and demonstrations from our K9s Dutch, Riggs, and Hondo. Everyone had fun, and it was a great day of learning and giving!

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank everyone who made this field trip possible. We are proud of our D.A.R.E. Program and the commitment the students have shown in making our community a better place!
