HARTVILLE DRIVERS: Please be especially careful when driving through downtown Hartville this week, particularly 9am-1130am on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. ❤️
For more than three decades, the Hartville Chocolate Factory has welcomed elementary students from Lake Local Schools to our shop as part of their walking field trip through town. (Through the years, the walks have also included a restaurant, village hall, the fire station, the feed mill and the nearby historic cemetery.) Their visit to the chocolate factory is a fun stop that our mama, Mary Barton, set up with the teachers shortly after we opened in 1986. During their time at the store, the kids are given the opportunity to shop a little bit - $2 max each - and then we treat each one to a free ice cream cone. Over the years, we estimate that more than 10,000 students have visited us as part of these special trips. That's a lot of ice cream!🍦
All of this to say, there will be 10 classes - 300 students - traveling back and forth to the school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning this week. They will be walking rain or shine. Please drive carefully, especially if you see the children crossing at an intersection. If you see them sitting on the front porch of the store, enjoying their ice cream cones, be sure to "beep" your horn. They LOVE it when cars and trucks see them! 🛻🚙🚗
