RIVERFRONT CLARIFICATION

I want to clear up something that I may have misspoken while on WMSK this morning. I was told I said I finally got our Magistrate Jerry Floyd and Judge Executive Adam O'Nan on board with me with the riverfront. I only meant we are fighting the same battle. A team. Nothing else. If it was taken any other way, I apologize. Perhaps it should have been said differently, but it's hard on a live show.

Magistrate Floyd and Judge O'Nan understand the importance of the river traffic in our town. They installed the nice boat ramp we have and gave us a nice parking lot for the boaters. They dredge the boat ramp each year which costs tens of thousands of dollars but with flooding it's hard to keep and the boat dock is impossible to use.

I never intended to give people the idea they didn't care. Judge O'Nan has made trips to Frankfort on our behalf to secure financial backing on the project. They are trying to solve a problem that even engineers are scratching their heads on. Will it happen? Yes, but I know they are searching for a permanent solution.

So, stay tuned! We will keep you posted...

Thank you to the Fiscal Court, Judge Adam O'Nan, and Magistrate Jerry Floyd (our district) for keeping the flame going for a better Union County! Keep fighting for us! We do appreciate your efforts!!

I think we have the bugs worked out of our notification app for the city. The app also works as a website that contains information about the city. We encourage anyone to grab the link for the app from the QR code or the link above. BE SURE TO TURN ON NOTIFICATIONS in your settings!

You will receive realtime information happening in the city from Easter egg hunts to weather warnings.

Ever wanted to know what was going on at the time it’s happening and “not after the fact?” Facebook is not “right now” and not everyone has Facebook. BUT everyone can have a Uniontown app on their phone.

The City of Uniontown has contracted with a notification app for cell phones to notify you of anything we feel you need to be aware of such as water outages, change in schedules, reminders for calendar events, weather notifications, etc.
Cost? Costs you nothing to sign up. Simply use the QR code above, get into the link and follow directions. Be sure to complete your profile with address as we will be able to target areas when needed. When completed you should have a “Uniontown” widget on your phone.

This is actually a small website with a lot of city information and a map on it. Also be sure to finish your profile and turn on notifications.

NEW WEATHER WARNING SIRENS COMING OUR WAY!!

Great news comes at a time when we are at risk for severe weather. Our current emergency siren system has worked great for us in the past. Newer siren systems with greater range and monitoring its efficiency have been purchased by the Fiscal Court/EMS in our county for several areas and Uniontown is one of them.

Some of the preliminary work has been done to complete the installation. When fully installed, it should reach outlying areas as far as Cottingham Acres. What an improvement to warn as many as possible at a time when you need it most!
