The mansion is now open for historic tours and paranormal investigations. Frederick C. Keighley (1885-1915) built this home for his wife and their 7 children in 1902. Originally from Yorkshire, England, Mr. Keighely moved to Ohio with his family at the age of 11. Shortly after, he began assisting his father as bookkeeper for the Mahoning Coal Company in Youngstown. He had a true
passion for science which led to his rise as a prominent businessman having served as general manager, superintendent, and inspector for multiple mines and mining companies in Uniontown, PA and the surrounding areas. Keighley was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and served as President of the School Board. He was a beloved and active member of the Uniontown community. On April 14th, 1915, Frederick C. Keighley was found dead in his garage with a gunshot wound to the head. It is believed that this was an act of su***de. Some think that he was distraught over the illness of his daughter, but it is most likely due to the closing of the First National Bank of Uniontown. However, there is some mystery surrounding Mr. Keighley's untimely death. Rumors circulated that he was hanged in his office by his own staff and that the su***de was later staged in his garage.
