🚒🐱 Last night, crews from House 2 received an unusual request for help. A pair of caring citizens drove up to the firehouse after a kitten became trapped inside the center console of their vehicle.

Firefighters carefully worked to partially disassemble the console and safely free the scared little kitten without injury. After a lot of tiny meows, and a few fingers nibbled on, the kitten was successfully rescued and is doing well.

Great teamwork by everyone involved, and thank you to the community members who came for help quickly! 🐾

Storms are expected to move into our area later this evening and now is the time to prepare. ⛈️

• Bring in or tie down outdoor items.
• Charge your devices
• Make sure you can receive weather alerts overnight.

If severe weather hits, move indoors, stay away from windows, and avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary.

If you see downed power lines or dangerous conditions such as high water, keep your distance and call 911.

Non-emergency services for the city are closing early today, but as always, we’ll be here if you need us 🚒

The work never stops, even on Sundays. Your University City Firefighters work 48hr shifts, and the beginning of each shift requires thorough truck checks, maintenance, and cleaning.
