🚨 Vehicle Theft Alert🚨

Criminals are using new technology to steal vehicles without ever touching your keys. Through “key fob cloning” or relay attacks, thieves can capture and amplify the signal from your key fob—even while it’s inside your home—and use it to unlock and start your vehicle in seconds.

Protect yourself by:
🔒 Locking your vehicle every time
📡 Storing key fobs away from doors/windows
🛡️ Using Faraday pouches or signal-blocking containers
🚗 Considering steering wheel locks or GPS tracking devices

These thefts are quick, quiet, and becoming more common nationwide. Stay alert and report suspicious activity immediately.

A few simple precautions today can help prevent becoming a victim tomorrow. If you have concerns or see suspicious activity in your area please contact our non-emergency number at 314-725-2211.

Brake for Seat Belts
University City Police Department to Participate in Click It or Ticket Enforcement
(University City, MO) – University City Police Department will be joining with statewide law enforcement May 18 – May 31, 2026, for a statewide “Click It or Ticket” mobilization to step up enforcement on Missouri’s seat belt law.
More than 5 out of 10 people killed in 2025 Missouri traffic crashes were unbuckled. Even with all the advancements in automobile safety, a seat belt remains a person’s single greatest defense in the event of a crash.
Missouri’s seat belt use has shown improvement in the last five years, but the state remains just below the national average in usage. Missouri has an 88.5 percent seat belt use while the national average is 91.2 (2024) percent. Teens and pick-up truck drivers are among those least likely to buckle up at 74.0 percent and 75.3 percent, respectively.
“Nearly every day someone dies in a Missouri traffic crash because they weren’t buckled up,” said Lieutenant Larry Becton. “We will be pulling out all the stops to help ensure motorists are making the smart decision to buckle up.”
Buckle Up and Arrive Alive. For information on Missouri seatbelt usage, visit www.saveMOlives.com.
