A story of second chances.

"When I was released from jail, I had nowhere to go. From day one, the re-entry program was there for me."

We're honored to share Ashley's inspiring story of recovery, determination, and success.

After years of struggling with addiction and involvement in the justice system, Ashley entered the Cayuga County Jail Re-Entry Program with a commitment to build a new future. Through hard work, perseverance, and support from dedicated re-entry staff and community partners, she secured housing, employment, transportation, benefits, and the resources needed to rebuild her life.

Today, Ashley is celebrating more than two years of sobriety, stable employment, her own apartment, and a future filled with hope.

Her story is a reminder that reentry is about more than leaving incarceration—it's about creating opportunities, building support systems, and helping people succeed long after release.

As Ashley wrote:

"The re-entry program has been essential in my day-to-day successes. Just getting to medical appointments, taking care of my health, and having someone reliable and encouraging has made all the difference."

Thank you, Ashley, for sharing your journey and reminding us why this work matters. Your strength, honesty, and determination inspire us all.

🏓 Today is the first day of our 4-week CCS Kids Club Pickleball Group! 🏓

Everyone is welcome!

Today's focus will be on learning the basics, including the rules of the game, how to hold a paddle, and practicing some beginner-friendly hitting skills.

Never played before? Perfect! This group is designed for beginners and anyone looking to try something new. There is no pressure, no experience required, and no expectations—just a fun opportunity to get active, learn a new skill, and see if pickleball is something you enjoy.

We’re trying something new this summer — and we’re inviting kids and their families to join us!

CCS Kids Club Pickleball is all about getting kids, youth, and families active, connected, and having fun together.

Here’s the best part: our Executive Director, Sarah VanDoren and Deputy Director, Emily Hitchcock will be teaching the basics… and while we may not be pickleball pros (not even clos), we absolutely believe in the importance of keeping kids active, having fun, building confidence, and creating positive community connections.

Whether you’ve never played before or already love the game, everyone is welcome!

✅ Beginners encouraged
✅ Paddles & balls provided
✅ Open to youth and families

Cayuga Counseling Services is proud to launch a new support group designed to provide connection, encouragement, and community for individuals currently or formerly involved in the criminal justice system.

The North Star Initiative offers a safe and supportive space where participants can network, build positive relationships, and work toward successful reintegration into the community.
