“Fun” has always been an elusive concept to me. Other people seemed to have it on lock. My idea of “fun” was always weird things like organizing haha. I also struggled to do things I found boring. Now understanding I have ADHD it makes more since why I struggled. Reading this book gave me the structure to 1) understand it’s okay that my definition of “fun” being different it okay 2) there are ways to make things that are boring more fun, or find a way to deligate those task to someone else.
After reading this book I had the pleasure of meeting and working with the author, and he incorporated all these principles to our sessions, and in how he interpreted my teachings into his life to make them his own was inspiring.
Why it’s relevant to organization: I can't list every way this book affects organization but the overall concept comes from the framework of task types. The book specifies 4 types of tasks including Pleasing, Living, Agonizing, and yielding. When our homes are not organized or are full of clutter we end up living in the Agonizing (no joy and challenging task) and Yielding (the zone out task) areas. And not having time to actually have fun.
