Starbird Theatre Presents Dark Comedy of Manners, God of Carnage
Vancouver, WA — Starbird Theatre is proud to present the satirical comedy “God of Carnage”
by Yesmina Reza, directed by Jay Hash. It runs May 29 – 31, 2026, at Sherman Auditorium,
2289 E. McLoughlin Blvd.
“We are thrilled to bring this particular story to our community, it is wickedly funny, and you
will be talking about it on the way home!” says Gina George, Artistic Director.
“God of Carnage” tells the story of two sets of parents who meet to resolve a playground fight
between their sons, but their attempts at civilized discussion devolve into a chaotic, hysterical,
and often hilarious battle of accusations, insults, and shattered civility.
“The play explores what was intended to be a courteous, diplomatic, and conciliatory meeting
that turns into mudslinging, backbiting, and unhinged diatribes,” said Hash. “Our hope is that we
can appropriately recreate parents engaging in ‘childish behavior’ at a meeting regarding their
own kids’ childish behavior with such aplomb, you& #39;ll think it& #39;s the United States Government.”
The play reminds all of us that no matter how well–thought–out the persona you decide to
present is, there will always be someone willing to take you down a peg and humble you. It’s
how we react in those situations that is important, and where most of the humor comes from in
this piece.
The talented local cast includes:
Mary Reischmann as Veronica
David Yake as Michael
Leah Cohn as Annette
Nathan Wright as Alan
Performance Details:
Dates: May 29 at 7:30 pm, May 30 at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm, and May 31at 2:00 pm
Location: Sherman Auditorium, 2289 E. McLoughlin Blvd., Vancouver, WA 98661
Tickets: $23.00 in advance; $25 at the door.
