A huge thank you to Vulcan Materials Company – Northeast Division for showing their appreciation to our deputies and staff at the Chesapeake Correctional Center!

Yesterday, Vulcan Materials treated our team to Jimmy John’s sandwiches as part of their Quarterly First Responder Appreciation Lunch. Thank you for thinking of us and for your support!

We were honored to join Ryan Homes for its Swing for a Cure Softball Tournament Fundraiser!

We brought our All Cancer Pink Unit to the event to show our support for those who are fighting cancer, celebrate survivors and honor the lives of those we have lost.

Thank you to Ryan Homes for organizing such a meaningful event and bringing our community together for an important cause.

The Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office is teaming up with the Chesapeake Police Department and Chesapeake Fire Department for the annual Public Safety Trunk or Treat!

Bring the whole family out for a FA-BOO-LOUS evening filled with candy, games, food trucks and plenty of Halloween fun!

Celebrating National Coffee with a Cop Day!

Deputies from across the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office stopped by several McDonald’s locations to grab a cup of joe and spend some time with our community.

Coffee with a Cop is all about bringing law enforcement and the community together for conversations and meaningful connections.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, grabbed some coffee and chatted with our deputies. We had a great time and can’t wait to do it again next year!

Don’t let scammers win!

Deputy M. Hartman recently spoke to a captive audience at Great Bridge Church of Christ about scams circulating in our community and, most importantly, how to protect yourself from becoming a victim.

During the presentation, we learned just how many people in the room had already been targeted by scammers, underscoring how common these attempts have become.

Our Senior Scam Talks help seniors recognize common scams, spot the red flags and know what to do when something doesn’t seem right. You never know when a scammer may try to target you, but knowing the warning signs can help you stay one step ahead. [email protected]

Congratulations to the “Own It” Award winners! And shoutout to Master Deputy Cenzalli for helping recognize students who are making safe choices and setting a great example for their classmates.

These Hawks earned the Safety Award for the month of September for earning the most SOAR tickets for safety! They got to spend time with our SRO, Dep. Cenzalli, and she treated them to lunch! Who will win the "Own It" Award for October?

The Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office Administration staff left their mark on the sidewalk by City Hall!

Our team joined fellow City of Chesapeake employees for the CARES Chalk the Walk, filling the courtyard with creativity, color and a little CSO spirit!

Chalk the Walk is a fun way for City departments to showcase what makes their teams unique while celebrating the work happening across Chesapeake. Our Administration staff enjoyed stepping away from their desks and getting creative.

A new group of graduates is leaving the Chesapeake Correctional Center’s Horticulture Program with new skills and plenty to be proud of!

Throughout the program, participants gained hands-on experience working alongside Master Deputy Simien and volunteer Master Gardeners. From planting and crop care to greenhouse maintenance and pest management, they learned horticulture skills they can carry with them beyond the program.

Their hard work also makes an impact outside the Chesapeake Correctional Center. Fresh produce grown is donated to Healthy Chesapeake, helping provide nutritious food to local families in need.

A special thank you to our dedicated volunteers who give their time and knowledge to make this program possible, and to Master Deputy D. Simien for her dedication to keeping this amazing program growing and thriving.

We are also grateful for our community partners, Virginia Cooperative Extension, Healthy Chesapeake and Southeastern Virginia Training Center, for their continued support and commitment to the program.
