Healthy Community Partnership

Healthy Community Partnership From this data, we have learned youth perceptions of prescription drugs and alcohol and gained knowledge of usage and attitudes around these problems.

Our mission is - to achieve lasting positive environmental change in Rogers County to prevent substance abuse and promote overall wellness for youth and across the lifespan. After hosting a prescription drug drop in a local shopping center in the summer of 2009 and collecting thousands of unused and out-of-date prescription medications the Healthy Community Partnership established five permanent

prescription drug drops around Rogers County. Two mobile take back events have also been executed resulting in hundreds of pounds of “CONTROLLED” medications off the street, out of the hands of teens, and properly disposed of. Two drug dogs have also been provided thanks to the resources available through the Healthy Community Partnership and they are at work within the City’s police department and the Rogers County Sheriff’s office. Rogers County school counselors and administrators have also been the focus of educational efforts by HCP making them fully aware of the dangers of prescription drugs and underage drinking. Nearly 3,000 Rogers County junior high and high school students were recently surveyed through the efforts of the Healthy Community Partnership and our collaboration with county schools. More recently, our coalition has expanded its focus to include healthy lifestyles in general. Our task forces have increased in number and now include the TSET Healthy Living Program, RoCo Fit, Project Launch, Partners in Community Health, Will Rogers Park Project, Turning Point Initiative, Drug Free Communities Project, Project Launch, and Partnership for Success. Our mission is to achieve lasting positive environmental change in Rogers County to prevent substance abuse and promote overall wellness for youth and across the lifespan.
