Remember that mystery lunch guest we teased? 🍔 Time for the reveal:

THANK YOU, DICK'S DRIVE-IN!! 🎉

Dick's Drive In Restaurant donated 200 cheeseburgers to egm — shared with our staff and our neighbors — thanks to a connection made by egm board member Chris Willis. And let's just say... they did not last long.

For a company that's been serving burgers, fries, and shakes around Puget Sound since 1954, it felt like a particularly Northwest way to show up. An ordinary day around here got a whole lot more delicious.

Dick's — thanks for the burgers, and for thinking of our staff and neighbors. 💙🍔

This is what dignity looks like. 🍽️

Elliot — one of our neighbors and volunteers — serving alongside kitchen manager Payton. Every day at , lunch and dinner are ready for anyone in our community who needs a warm meal and a welcoming face.

Our neighbors aren't numbers. They're people. And they deserve to be treated the way we'd want our own family treated.

Want to serve alongside Elliot?

Aprons on. 🖤

Our September all-staff meeting was full of good things: encouraging messages, new faces joining the egm family (welcome aboard!), team members celebrating their vesting milestone — 90 days in and officially part of the crew 🎉 — and a delicious lunch provided by a special guest we can't wait to introduce you to. Stay tuned for that one. 👀

The day opened the best way we know how: Eric (Donor Engagement Manager), Damian (Director of Community Partnerships), Dan (Director of Operations), and our CEO John Hull led us in a service beforehand — fantastic music, prayer, and reflection on Scripture that set the tone for everything after.

But the aprons are the story. This year's theme at egm is "Making Room" — and every one of us put one on as a reminder of why we do this work: room was made for us, so we make room for others.

That's the heart behind everything here. Someone opened a door for each of us. Now we get to hold it open.

More soon on our mystery lunch guest... 💙

1,500 grocery bags. One incredible group of students. 💙

On September 18, students at Northwest University spent their evening packing and loading 1,500 grocery bags for egm — food that will reach neighbors across our community through shelters, pantries, and partner programs in the weeks ahead.

Here's the truth about this work: we can't do it alone. And honestly? We were never meant to. Poverty is alleviated neighbor to neighbor — students filling boxes, drivers loading trucks, partners opening doors — everyone building each other up, one grocery bag at a time.

To the NU students who showed up with energy and servant hearts: you didn't just pack groceries. You reminded a whole community what showing up for each other looks like.

Thank you, Northwest University! 💛💙

A meal matters. A safe bed matters. But at egm, we've never believed that's where the work ends. ➡️

Swipe through to see the egm way: Safety creates the ground to stand on. Relationships create the space to belong. And over time — with support, consistency, and connection — transformation happens.

It's not a program. It's how we approach every neighbor who walks through our doors.

Want to understand this approach more deeply? That's exactly what our Poverty 101 training is for: https://egmission.org/poverty-101/

Our team just got back from the 2026 Network Pacific Northwest conference in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho — hosted this year by our friends at Union Gospel Mission (Union Gospel Mission Inland Northwest). Thank you, UGM, for the incredible hospitality!

Citygate Network brings together rescue missions from across the country, and this gathering drew missions from across our corner of it — Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska. It was everything we hoped for: connecting with others doing this same work, learning new ways to serve our neighbors well, and growing closer as a team.

On the final day, our CEO John Hull joined a panel interview with mission leaders from across the region — a reminder that the challenges we face in Everett are shared by our neighbors across the Northwest, and so are the solutions.

Because that's the real takeaway: building a stronger foundation within our team is how we strengthen the foundation we build for our neighbors. The work starts with us.

And yes — sometimes team building comes with face masks. 🧖 Swipe for proof of the official conference glow-up.

Grateful, refreshed, and back home in Everett ready to go. 💙

"This is my 2nd time being in this training. It changed me and I wanted more." — Poverty 101 participant

Poverty 101 is egm's interactive workshop on relational poverty alleviation. Before we could do more for our neighbors, we realized we needed to know more — and that's true for all of us. No social work background needed, people of all faiths (or none) welcome, ages 14+ with a parent/guardian.

📅 Upcoming trainings:
✔️ October 24 — Kirkland, WA
✔️ November 7 — Kenmore, WA
✔️ January 16 — Everett, WA

Bonus: register and attend through Point, our volunteer platform, and you'll earn 6 hours of volunteer service credit. It's also the required training for all active egm volunteers — so if you've been thinking about volunteering, this is your first step.

"He came, he gave, and he loves." 🧡

At last week's talk, our CEO John Hull named the quiet math people do about neighbors experiencing homelessness — bad decisions, too costly, just enabling — and then flipped it: that's not the math God did for any of us.

It's why we do what we do in Everett, every single day. Not because it adds up. Because love doesn't calculate.

Double-tap if that hits, and follow for more from the road this September. 👇

Some generosity looks like opening a door. 🚪

egm's staff has grown to about 50 people — and right now, we don't have a single room big enough to gather everyone. Some of our most important work happens when a church, business, or neighbor simply says, "There is room for you here."

We're currently looking for:

🏛️ Churches, businesses, or community rooms that can host ~50 people
🪑 Smaller meeting or retreat spaces for staff development and planning
🏠 Homes or businesses that could occasionally host a partner gathering
🌲 Cabins, condos, or second homes for a brief staff retreat

A space doesn't need to be available often — a single meeting or one short stay makes a real difference. We can cover agreed-upon cleaning costs, and we'll always honor the purpose and boundaries of your space.

If a room, hall, or getaway spot comes to mind, we'd love to hear its story. Read more and reach out: egmission.org/an-open-door-can-be-a-gift/

An open door can be a gift. 💙
