Learning Adventures Activity Center

I am looking at a slow open for Learning Adventures Activity & Resource Center and need to ask y'all a question. Is there any interest for an open study hall on Tues, Wed and Thurs each week for parents to be able to drop off (or stay and work with) your 8th grade thru 12th grade students? I have three laptops and Internet available for those doing online curriculums or research for papers, etc. I have open tables and a snack bar open for our studying area. I also have outdoor areas for shooting hoops, ping pong and various other activities for break times. We do have several animals that students would need to be gentle with or leave alone (chickens, rabbits,cats, dogs, turkeys, bearded dragon, etc). I do have some curriculum available to be used on site. I would be happy to help new homeschool parents to set up lesson plans/curriculum for their child to do while here. Parents are responsible for homeschooling their children. I am not assuming that responsibility, but will be as much of a tutor as agreed on or simply a facility for parents to be able to have their child use and be with other children too. I haven't updated this page in awhile so here is a brief summary/catch up of what we are doing here: We closed our daycare to reopen as an activity and resource center. As we were getting it set up, there was a water leak that caused a lot of damage. As soon as we got it all remodeled and we're setting up to reopen, the tornado came thru and destroyed everything. We now have a new location, but have run out of funding to get the library completed and some other work necessary to fully open our center. We started the Powderly Farmer's Market to get people connecting and make some money for the center. We hope to partially open in early July.

This will be a community place for parents to bring their children to play and do activities with them. We will have a calendar of events available that you can choose to participate in. It is a place where people can meet, relax, play, and eat or even homeschool your children. We plan to have a homeschool curriculum library set up, games, computers and a lot of ways to play inside and out. We also plan to have a small hobby farm for children to learn about animals and an orchard with garden beds to learn about growing our own food.

We hope to eventually grow enough food to help feed our community. This center has the motto, everyone can do something. When we each do what we can do, we work smarter, not harder and can all get what we need.

More than anything, this is meant to be a wholesome place for our community to connect and find the resources they need. We want to support our local families and make learning fun for our children.

Though you do not need to believe in God to come here, this is coming about because He has shown me to do it. All that I do here is a blessing that He has given and shown me to provide. I will continue to do all that He shows me, including offering Bible studies, prayer meetings and His heart to all who come. I strongly believe His purpose is to show His love to you in tangible ways so you can fully experience Him. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. His heart is for you and He wants you to know and trust in Him.

Had a wonderful time today playing, making fall marble art and having stories with crafts! I have missed having activities like this and can't wait until next time :) Thank you to the families that were able to join us!!

Some pictures of our new place :) It is our home and our Learning Adventures - it is in need of some more upgrades to get fully open, but we will have some craft and storytelling events coming up soon as a soft open to raise money for opening fully. Stay tuned!

Last night we had our first Upper Room Community Prayer Night. We had four adults gathered together while our children played. There was an earnest desire to draw in close to God and to share what He has taught us. We did this by sharing our testimony, expounding on individual Scriptures that God had put in our hearts at specific times to lead, encourage or correct us and through glorifying God through songs. We prayed for one another and our community as well as specific needs that we were aware of.
It was all worship, acknowledging Who He is and all that He has done and is doing. It brought us closer together and closer to Him. I know that He heard our prayers and is answering every one. I am so thankful for those that came and the time in the Lord that we shared.
I will announce the next one as soon as the date is set. It will be toward mid September. Please feel free to join us and bring friends to enter into a time seeking God with us. Nothing is impossible with God. I just want to encourage you to come to Him and receive all that He has for you. Let His Spirit guide you into all that He has planned for you.

Praise God, we have a new location!! God always provides and this place is wonderfully suited to do all that He has given me the vision to do!! First, there is some work that will need to be done on it, and for that, I need to raise some money. I am currently opening Miss Laura's Bakery under the TX Cottage Law to raise the funds. For my ingredients, I will use as many organic and non gmo ingredients as I can find. My goal is to provide deliciousness in many varieties 🙂 I have mini loaves of banana bread available now.
