Historic Rock Ford is open for tours from April-October. Visit our website for hours and ticketing. Historic Rock Ford was the home of General Edward Hand and his family as well as enslaved and free servants and laborers. During the American Revolution, Edward Hand was Adjutant General to George Washington. Today, Historic Rock Ford is comprised of 33 acres at the southeastern edge of Lancaster Ci

ty surrounded by Lancaster County Central Park. It offers guided tours of the elegantly furnished rooms of the circa 1794 Hand Mansion as well as the opportunity to visit the John J. Gallery of Early Lancaster County Decorative Arts which is housed in a re-constructed 18th century bank barn. Historic Rock Ford offers visitors a peaceful enclave for lovers of history, art and nature just inside the boundaries of Lancaster City.

On Monday, September 7 (Labor Day), Historic Rock Ford's America250 Lecture Series welcomes Justin Cherry of Half Crown Bakehouse as he presents a lecture on “The Bakers of Washington's Army During the American Revolution.” This event will take place in the Langmuir Education Room in the Rock Ford Barn at 6 PM. General admission is $10 and may be purchased in advance or at the door.

This living history experience is part of Historic Rock Ford's Labor Day special event from 10 AM to 4 PM. Admission includes self-guided tours of the General Edward Hand Mansion and entry to the John J. Snyder, Jr. Gallery. $12 Adults and $6 children payable in advance or at the event.
