Polaris CTC is a volunteer group of community members, teachers, and students working together to support our school through events, fundraising, and appreciation efforts. Here students are challenged to make the connections between the classroom and the outside world. Learning is hands-on, minds-on. Polaris ELS is a place where kids are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and develop a
love of learning. "The child's mind is a fire to be ignited, not a pot to be filled." —John Locke
Expeditionary Learning is a comprehensive school model that encompasses learning expeditions, active pedagogy, and the building of character and culture. Students and teachers engage in authentic, multidisciplinary studies that create a depth of knowledge and love of learning. These learning expeditions connect students to the larger world through fieldwork, experts and compelling questions. Through adventure, personal discovery is fostered, confidence is built, and trust is developed.
