AmeriCorps Our mission is to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering.

AmeriCorps is the only federal agency tasked with elevating service and volunteerism in America. We provide opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to give their time and talent to strengthen communities across our country. By bringing people together to serve communities, AmeriCorps is making service to others an indispensable part of the American experience. We offer individuals and organizations flexible ways to make a local impact through our programs: State and National, VISTA, NCCC, Foster Grandparents, Senior Companions, RSVP, and Volunteer Generation Fund, along with initiatives including 9/11 and MLK Day of Service. The communication is produced and published at US taxpayer expense.

AmeriCorps is honored to lead the national 9/11 Day of Service, standing shoulder to shoulder with communities across the country. Today, our leadership, staff, Volunteers, and partners joined 9/11 Day meal‑packing events nationwide to honor those we lost and transform remembrance into meaningful action.

Agency Leadership began the day at the New York Stock Exchange, where Interim Agency Head Jennifer Bastress Tahmasebi participated in the Opening Bell ceremony. Chief of Staff Mark Lloyd and Acting AmeriCorps Seniors Director Robin Corindo served in Washington, D.C., while Acting Chief Operating Officer Charndrea Leonard joined volunteers in Atlanta.

Twenty‑five years ago, our nation was forever changed by the attacks on September 11. Today, we honor those we lost and the individuals who stepped forward in the aftermath through service, unity, and action.

Today, thousands of Americans will answer the call to serve their communities, becoming heroes to those who need them most. From packing meals and cleaning up neighborhoods to giving blood, supporting disaster preparedness, and more, every act of service helps keep the memory of those we lost alive. Together, we rekindle the spirit of solidarity that lifted our nation in the days following 9/11.

Stay tuned as we highlight how Americans across the country are stepping up to make a difference.
